Since 1963: Our BBQ Story
Our story began with a vision from founders George & Delmos Daniel, who transformed a humble building with deep Baytown roots into what would become a beloved community staple. The structure itself dates back to the days of World War II, originally serving as Prince's Lumber Yard. The very building that houses our origins once held the office space where young women managed lumber orders and kept the books running smoothly.
In 1963, Mr. Daniel saw an opportunity and repurposed the space into a thriving meat market, grocery store, and lunch deli. With a dedication to quality meats and hometown service, he built something truly special. At the height of its early success, Daniel's employed a team of 11 skilled butchers, serving up fresh cuts and ready-to-eat meals to locals daily.
Customers could stop in for their weekly meat selection, grab last-minute groceries, or enjoy a hearty hot lunch. It quickly became more than just a market-it became part of the community. Over the decades, Daniel's Bar B Que & Meat Market grew into a name known across Baytown for tradition, quality, and flavor.
Passing the Torch, Keeping Tradition Alive
As time crept into a new millennium, George passed the business on to his son Jimmy. Jimmy carried the local tradition on by serving warm meals, and fresh meat for many years. When his health began declining he did not want to see his family's hard work remain as just a memory in the town he grew up in. He passed the business on to his dear friend Jack Adcox who has kept Daniel's traditions alive.
Daniel's Meat Market continues to craft hundreds of pounds of our signature Reo Sausage and boudin each week, all made in-house with time-honored recipes. These specialties are served alongside hot, made-from-scratch meals and are also available to pair with any raw meat purchase.
More Space, More BBQ, Same Heart
Thanks to the incredible support of our loyal customers, we've proudly expanded our brand to Daniel's Bar B Que & Meat Market and opened the doors to our brand-new building. Located just across the street from our original spot, the new space allows us to serve more guests, offer more of what you love, and continue the tradition with even greater variety and hospitality. Our hometown has been the heart of everything we do, and this next chapter wouldn't be possible without your continued support.
